First Responders City Park
Alexander is a tiny town of less the 400 people on the southern edge of the Bakken Formation in North Dakota. An oil boom started in 2000 when hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling in the shale of the formation released oil that had been previously been locked in the rock. Town populations exploded as workers poured in. Temporary housing and RV lots sprung up everywhere and Alexander built a small RV park. The boom was soon over and now the park looks abandoned. When we visited the water and electricity were off and the information board was empty. We pulled into one of the grassy sites and spent a quiet night but I'm not sure if the park is actually opened.
