Salem Sue–The World's Largest Holstein Cow

Sitting high on a hill, Salem Sue attracts the curious off of the interstate to marvel at her fiberglass bulk. She’s 38 feet tall, 50 feet long, weighs six tons, and was built in 1974 to honor the area’s dairy farmers.

A short, paved path allows visitors to stand under Salem for great photo opportunities. We decided to view Sue from the parking lot due to the steepness of the path and 90 degree temperature on the day we visited. Nice view of the dairy farms from the parking lot.

The road to the parking lot is dirt, dusty but in good condition with one tight switchback. The parking lot is small and large RV may not be able to turn around. Sue 46.85308, -101.42635

    1. Yep! I forgot about wanting to stop and see her but she is so big that we spotted her from the interstate before I recognized her. What is that thing on the hill - a giant horse? no a cow! Oh it's Salem Sue!
