S. S. Tutshi, Carcross
Making the best of it! This 1917 sternwheeler had been restored to her former glory when a fire, in 1990, destroyed all but the front hull. A wood framework traces the original structure. The burnt and twisted mechanical parts are set in their original positions.
The ground level section with interpretive signs is accessible. The other levels have stairs only.
Visit the old railway station a block away for some more history of Carcross. The walkways are a combination of gravel, boardwalk, and paved sidewalk – uneven surfaces so wheelchair users may need some help.
Parking for RVs is available at the information center or the adjacent gravel lot. Sternwheeler
