Over forty nicely maintained small gardens fill the 25 acres of the formal gardens. An additional 45 acres of the arboretum are planted with 650 native tree species. University gardens are often a bit unkempt and lacking in variety but this one, although small, is excellent.
The main trails are paved and accessible. The rest are gravel, wood chip, or grassy and may be difficult for wheelchair users who don’t have assistance. The rock garden which has a hill and loose gravel is not accessible. A wheelchair can be borrowed and a golf card tour, with reservations in advance, is available.
Whoa, how pretty. Love your pics -- I love going to gardens and parks like this. Thanks for the heads-up, tho I know we won't be going to SD any time soon!
