We started our walk at Ravine Park, a small park with a lake for fishing, swimming, tubing, and non-power boating. The lake was developed by the WPA. Many small communities benefited and are still benefiting from work done through the agencies established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s and 1940s. :-) The trail which circles the lake and detours out to a small island is about a mile in total length.
We parked in the lot on Easy Street, on the west side of the lake. Although RVs will easily fit in this lot, it is small so visitors with large RVs may wish to park on the other side of the lake or along the road in Memorial Park. Trails 44.36843, -98.20154
I lived too much of my life in the East and have a disinclination to travel east of the Rockies. I venture into the Black Hills or west Texas once every few years. As I follow your travels and see you inching farther and farther east, I get an uncomfortable feeling, almost like we're heading to the edge of the world. Awk! Don't go too far! But then I remember it's you guys, not me, and I'm mostly okay again.
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing as I read this. :-D
DeleteIt is the edge of the world out here! No more wide open land! No more boondocking spots everywhere you look! Cars and people everywhere!
And with coronavirus a lot of the cultural attractions in the east are shut down or their activities are curtailed so to some extent the good experiences are diminished. It's a good time to be in the west!
