Jack Dempsey was born in this cabin which has been relocated and renovated to serve as a museum. The Dempsey family moved frequently as Jack’s father, a miner, looked for work. Jack left home at 16, riding the rails, picking up odd jobs and fighting in bars. He became a very successful heavyweight boxing champion, winning many of his bouts with knockouts. The museum displays are mostly photographs of Dempsey in the ring or with well known celebrities.

I will have to remember to visit the Dempsey Museum when we are in that area. I had the pleasure to meet Buddy Baer a number of times, he had the LARGEST hand I have ever shaken, and yet it was so gentle.
ReplyDeleteFinally catching up on my blog reading after leaving Florida Monday afternoon in our new to us Jayco Melbourne, and arriving in west Wyoming this evening after following the Oregon Trail for about 400 miles or so. If you ever make it into central Wyoming, Independence Rock is ada friendly....Marcia did not have any problems getting around with her GoGO.

You two are on a fast journey! I can't even remember the last time we drove more than 250 miles in a day, most of the time it's under 100. Nice that you made it to Salt Lake in time for Father's Day!
