National Voting Rights Museum and Institute
Located at the base of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, this museum marks the beginning of the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March and the spot where the marchers were intimidated, tear gassed, beaten, and turned back before the successful march on March 7, 1965. The museum has many photographs of the marchers along with their personal stories. Exhibits also cover voting rights activities by other groups throughout the south.
There’s a slight ramp at the entrance door. The door is heavy and opens outward making it very hard to enter. Most of the exhibits are easy to view.
The parking lot is large enough for any RV. Museum
