Fruit & Spice Park
Access to this park starts good but we soon discovered a major fault. The parking is good, handicapped spaces for cars and vans, enough room to fit a RV, ADA ramp into the entrance building, wide smooth paved paths throughout the gardens but the best part of the gardens is the guided tram tour and that is really bad.
The last car is the wheelchair car. It looks like it doesn’t get used much. The metal ramp up to it is dangerously steep. The tie downs were not used. Our guide was spending so much time walking from the lead car back to us to explain things that we quickly asked if it was okay with him and the other passengers to have a walking tour. There were only eight of us and everyone was agreeable so we exited the tram –much better!
This isn’t standard procedure so I don’t know if it’s ordinarily possible to have a walking tour. We did some overland, through the grass stuff , so I needed a good bit of help.
The reason for taking the guided tour is that this is a educational county park and the tour guide explains how all the different fruits and nuts are used and gives samples of the ripe ones to everyone to taste. It sounds a little strange but our entire group found it interesting and fun. Fruit and Spice Park
