Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve

001
Mima Mounds are small humps composed of soil and gravel, regularly spaced across 10,000 acres of land. Theories on their origins include seismic activity, tsunamis, glaciers, permafrost and pocket gophers.

Approximately four miles of trails circle around the mounds. The paved, accessible section is a 1/2 mile loop. The rest of the trails are packed dirt with small rocks and too rough for rolling along. The viewing platform is accessible.

The road to the parking lot is narrow and the parking lot is small. RVs can fit by parking across the spaces. A Discover Pass is required to visit.  Mounds
