We wandered around the French Quarter for three days and didn’t see everything. But now that we know how easy it is to access the city by ferry we’ll be back!
We were in the city during the day only so we missed the music scene and all the rowdy drunkenness but the smell still lingered along Bourbon Street. :-D During the day it’s quiet and not crowded especially at this time of year. There’s still plenty to do and a lot of it is free.
Listen to the street musicians. (give them a tip!)

Having lived in Penscaola for many years with just a three hour drive to New Orleans, we went at least two or three times a year. Looks like you had nice weather to explore that interesting city. Hope you got to sample some of the great food, too.
ReplyDeleteThe weather couldn't have been nicer. We had a great time exploring the city but one thing we didn't do enough of is eat! Just one po'boy and a bowl of gumbo. :-)
DeleteI'm glad to see that Jim is getting his medical problems straightened out - scary stuff.
I really enjoy your blog. Sorry about not commenting. I'll try to do it more often.
Glad you are enjoying New Orleans or as the locals say Noleans(spelling for slang?). As Jim said the food is great. Where did you stay while visiting the" big easy"?
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in the parking lot at Boomtown Casino. It's fairly close to the city and very quiet. We had the RV lot to ourselves most nights. We stayed almost a week and even played the slot machines a few evenings and came out a little ahead. :-)
DeleteWe've camped at Bayou Segnette State Park when we've come through this way in previous years. It's a great place to stay too - nice campground and easy to get to the city.
