Sonoran Desert NM Boondocking

This is a fairly new national monument, established in 2001, and mostly wilderness with no developed areas. Activities include hiking, backpacking, stargazing, camping, hunting, motor touring, sightseeing, photography, and horse back riding. We just wanted a nice spot to spend the night and did not explore the monument.

The dispersed camping area picture above is easy to access from I-8 and is roomy enough for any RV. It’s pretty quiet even though the interstate is visible from the site.

Now that we’ve made it to southern Arizona we’ll be staying put for a while visiting friends and attending the RTR so I won’t be posting very much until late January. Thanks for reading and check back later for more posts!

  1. Hope you enjoy the RTR, and I am assuming you heard about the gathering of bloggers in Q again. I forgot which blog I read about it on. Have a wonderful New Year. --Dave and Marcia

    1. The RTRs are always a lot of fun. We probably won't make it to the blogger gathering but thanks for reminding me about it. Happy New Year to both of you and the puppies too!

  2. We noticed a dispersed camping area while driving thru the (beautiful) Sonoran Desert, but we had a different destination and didn't stop. Didn't know about RTR, but it looks like a fun time for all. Hope it's great fun for you guys.

    1. I think the Sonoran Desert deserves a more thorough visit than our overnight stop but like you we were just passing through.
I'm looking forward to your Rose Parade posts!

  3. Did you go to the RTR Coney dog dinner? I thought I saw you and Tony in Bob Wells vlog. Enjoy!

    1. Yep,that was us! Bob missed the big crowd at the dinner - lots of people, lots of fun!
If you watched the vlog where he was upset about the noise that was only a few people close to his camp playing instrument around their campfire. Nobody else seemed to be bothered. More people this year but still a great gathering!
