Zuhl Museum
Herb and Joan Zuhl became fascinated with fossils and minerals in 1970 while on vacation in Arizona and began gathering specimens to sell in their Manhattan gallery and for their personal collection. When they retired to Las Cruces they donated their collection to the New Mexico State University and it’s now on display in university visitor center.
The museum isn’t very big but the fossils, petrified wood and minerals are some of the best we’ve seen. Definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through Las Cruces.
The museum is accessible.
The parking lot is small. We fit by backing up over the sidewalk in an end parking space. All of the other lots are permit only so download a permit if your RV does not fit in the lot.
