Historic Yorktown and Riverwalk Landing

013
Many of the buildings in Yorktown were damaged beyond repair in the siege during the Revolutionary War. Fires and explosions during the Civil War destroyed more of the town. The handful of buildings that survived intact plus a few that have been reconstructed, the Yorktown Victory Monument, and the site of a large colonial pottery factory that was discovered in the 1960s make up an interesting walking tour complete with informative signs. For a longer walk head downhill to the waterfront and follow the brick paved Riverwalk.

The trail starts at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and ends at the Yorktown Victory Center. Round trip is about three miles. Steep hills are at either end but there are many parking lots at Yorktown and at Riverwalk Landing. The walking tours in both Yorktown and Riverwalk Landing are fairly level but the hill connecting the two is very steep.

RVs will fit in the two-hour-limit free parking lots or along the street in off season.  Yorktown
