Lake Russell Recreation Area
During COVID a lot of public campgrounds moved to online reservations only which is the case for Lake Russell. I wasn't sure if cell signal would be strong enough in the campground to make a reservation onsite so I picked one online by studying the photos on Recreation.gov. It's a good thing we were only staying overnight because I failed at site picking. :D I choose Site 8 which has 6x6 lumber on both sides of the parking pad. The pad looks wide in the website photo but in actuality it's so narrow that there's no room to deploy a lift. This is a slow time of year and few sites were occupied so if we had been staying longer we would have moved. We did have cell signal so I recommend choosing at the campground. Many of the sites are not level. I took pictures of some of the better sites but didn't get the site numbers in the all pictures. The best ones do not have the 6x6 lumber. The campground has amenities not always found in national forest campgrounds such as hot showers and a dump station plus all of the usual ones - picnic tables, fire rings, water, dumpsters, and restrooms.

Doubt we'll have to worry about this one: No plan to take the RV into Georgia anymore. "Been there, done that!"
