Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center

Lucille Ball is so well known that almost everyone has seen at least one episode of the I Love Lucy show however most may not know much about her life. The museum takes visitors through Lucy's and Desi's childhoods, their early married days, and how they formed a good working team by promoting and helping each other become successful. Their divorce gets a short mention but it's pointed out that they remained friends for the rest of their lives.

The museum is in two buildings. The first building has some recreated TV sets, props and costumes from the show, short clips of the shows, and an explanation of the three camera system they used when filming.

The second building has their childhood stories, home movies, Lucy's costumes and outfits, and a helicopter video tour of Desilu Productions which was co-owned by Desi and Lucy until Lucy bought Desi out in 1962 after they divorced. Desilu Productions was huge with 33 sound stages. Many of the TV shows we watched as kids were filmed or produced there.

The museum is accessible but both the sidewalk and vestibule to the first building are sloped toward the street and the door opens outward making entering awkward. The  second building is just one door away and is easier to enter.

The town is on a hill and all the north/south streets are steep but 3rd street (east/west) where the museum is located is level. There are free parking spaces in front of the museum but they're narrow. Some RVs may be too wide for the spaces. Museum  42.09633, -79.24166

  1. I knew Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown a long time ago, but didn't know about the museum. Glad you could visit it.
