Artisans Mercado - Ajo Arizona Saturday Market

The market features handmade items only. Pottery, photographs, paintings, food, and other artistic creations are on display in the Ajo Plaza every Saturday from October to March and every second Saturday of the month from April to September. There weren't a lot of booths when we visited probably because of the cool weather. Our friend, whom we were visiting, bought some delicious brownies to share with us.
The sidewalks and curb cuts in the plaza area are in good condition. Most of the stores have accessible entrances. Missing curb cuts, lack of sidewalks, and other obstacles in the rest of the town may cause difficulties for visitors with mobility issues.

RVs can be parked on North Plaza Street, south of the plaza. Mercado 32.37305, -112.86187

  1. A few years back I took in a lunchtime/afternoon band concert in the square there. Nice little town as I recall.
I camped out of town in a dispersed camping area, I don't recall that part being particularly memorable.

    1. Many artists have moved to Ajo and helped it recover from the mine closing. Lots of community involvement and civic pride so it is a nice little town.
We like camping on the south end of Darby Wells Road - very scenic.
