Nebraska State Capitol Tour

Tours are given every hour, even on the weekends which is unusual for a state capitol. We were running late and just got a quick peek at the building. The capitol was finished in 1932 after 10 years of work. It was renovated in 1989 which involved removing some older renovations and returning everything its original condition and beauty. The ceilings and floors have wonderful mosaics.
The building is accessible but I wanted to see some of the paintings and murals on the second floor and we couldn’t find an elevator that accesses that level. The elevator goes to the second floor but there are steps down to the mezzanine. We may have missed a more accessible route.

We parked along O Street which has 2 hour metered parking. The sidewalks and curb cuts are in very good condition
