This 1/2 mile slice of Lake Erie shoreline, sandwiched between a power plant and commercial docks, is a much loved park. It was established in 1910 by a group of forward thinking county commissioners who realized the importance of public recreation areas. The main pavilion was built in 1919. At 440 feet in length it's one of the longest covered pavilions in the country.
Over the years a fishing pier, boat ramp, rock garden, restrooms, concession stand, duck pond, playground, and ball fields have been added.
The fishing docks, main pavilion, restrooms and concession stand are accessible.The path along the duck pond is accessible with assistance but the messy from the ducks and geese. The park is hilly so the short trails are not accessible.

Really nice-looking park. Is there camping, too?
ReplyDeleteNo, it's a small park. We stopped there on a hot day for the breeze off the lake and the shade from the large trees and enjoyed learning the history.
