Views of the Arkansas River, spacious sites, and mature trees makes this is a very pretty campground but lack of vegetation between the sites means little privacy. All of the sites have water and electric hookups. Of the 6 sections, E loop is the only one that is first come/first serve.
None of the sites are designated as accessible. We didn’t have reservations and were assigned a site with a narrow pad, a high drop to the ground, and an unusable table. We asked to switch sites and picked a fairly nice one in E loop but after walking through the entire campground we saw other sections that were even better. The sites in B loop are a bit wider with a river view. Some of the sites in A loop and all of the sites in F loop are extra wide to allow room for a towed or tow vehicle. Most have free standing, usable tables.
The campground also has 10 Medical Extended-Stay sites for UAMS patients who are undergoing long term treatment. This is the first time that we seen anything like this offered by a campground.
A short paved trail starts in the campground and makes a loop through the woods. Wheelchair users may need assistance due to steep sections.
This is where we stay when I am there for my annual check-up at UAMS, we "don't" get to stay in the long-term UAMS sites...but have talked to a few people who have. One was a father, daughter had to have treatments once per month which lasts 4-5 days. He drives the trailer from a rural community in Arkansas and sets it up, goes back and brings the girl and whole family the next day. Sure hope those treatments worked...that was about 3 years ago that we met them.
ReplyDeleteThey're nice sites. Seems like other people could use them as long as they agreed to vacate the site if it was need by somebody who getting treatment. I think only three of them were occupied.
DeleteCOE campgrounds have been good. I wouldn't think things are getting crowded yet.
ReplyDeleteThis one is only busy on the weekends. We got there Sunday afternoon and there were a lot of unoccupied sites.
