We try to stop at all scenic overlooks. Sometimes it seems like they are just a way to get tourists off the road and out of the way so that faster drivers don't get impatient but this one is really worth stopping to see. 60 million years ago the Wind River Mountain range uplifted and then years of erosion filled the valley with the softer layers of rock leaving a ridge of hard chert colored red by oxidized iron. The contrast between the red rock and spring green of the valley grasses and flowers is spectacular.Overlook 42.6034, -108.6143
