The 130 acres of the arboretum are divided between grass and prairie lands; and woods and wetlands. There is also small area with perennial flower gardens, a rose garden, an herb garden and a waterfall. A log cabin built by Swedish settlers in 1866 has been moved to the arboretum, A kitchen garden is behind the cabin and an orchard has been planted nearby.
Over two miles of trails wind through the arboretum but we only walked/rolled along the trails in the prairie and grasslands because every time we ventured near the woodland we were surrounded by swarms of mosquitoes – ugh!
Most of the trails are hard parked gravel and fairly easy to roll along except for the prairie trails which are difficult because they’re mowed paths with hills.

Wonder how late in the season you'd have to go in order to avoid swarms of skeeters? Beautiful gardens.
