Veteran's Memorial Park Campground

IMG_3580

Located just 1 1/2 miles from Monterey’s waterfront, this campground is a great base for exploring the town. The campground is at the top of a steep hill so, even with the short distance, walking to  town would be a workout.

Sites can not be reserved and payment is made at a self service kiosk with stays limited to three days. This is a popular campground and may fill by late afternoon. Access and Senior Pass holders get a $5.00 discount. Amenities include a dump station with potable water, restrooms with showers, tables, and fire rings.

The road up is steep and winding. If you’re driving a large RV stay on the main road in the campground. The loop road that goes into the trees is very narrow. The sites in the open, grassy area are pull through and large enough for most RVs.

The accessible site is paved and right next to the restrooms. The site where we stayed (pictured in this post) is not the accessible one.  Campground   36.5993, -121.91144

  1. "IF" you are still in the area, you might want to try and attend the Farmer's Market on Alvarado Street, 4-8 pm every Tuesday. I had meetings in Monterey and went to a number of them...good food and other "goodies" that Tony can buy for you. :)

    1. Thanks for the suggestion Dave! We would have liked that but I'm far behind on posts and we're just north of San Jose now.

    2. Ya, I told Marcia I doubted you were still in the area. Mom went to high school in SJ, it was a small town back then...
