Boundary County Fairgrounds

What a great, free place to spend the night! The only indication that it's okay for RVers to park at the fairgrounds overnight is a sign limiting parking to 72 hours but I haven't found any negative reviews on the free camping websites. The parking lot is huge. There's a free dump station and a water kiosk - 50 gallons for a quarter.
The park gets a lot of use during the day - softball games, kids at the playground, family gatherings, kids in the skateboard park but it's quiet at night. The weather was cool and wet during our stay so we didn't explore the little downtown area. We did help the local economy by grocery shopping, going to the laundromat (not recommended as there isn't any hot water) and filling our gas tank.

The parking lot is large enough for any RV. Make sure to use Riverside Street to access the fairgrounds. Bonner Street has a tunnel under the railroad tracks with an 11' clearance. Fairgrounds  48.69606, -116.31773

  2. Our niece is getting married in July in Maine so we have a lot of territory to cover. Speeding along 100 miles at a time. :-D

    1. Maine is beautiful! We spent most of a summer at a friend's place up there,
dumping the tanks was spendy. The best deal on lobster was at the
Hannaford grocery store in town (they were on sale) and they steamed
      them for you.
I liked Maine in the summer time.

I'm looking forward to the places you find on the way, safe travels!

    2. Thanks for the tips! I'm going to try Harvest Hosts and Hipcamp for places to stay but that still leaves a search for dump stations.

    3. We ended up using RV parks that would allow people to come in and pay a goody some to use the dump tank

  3. Yes, you are getting around -- also very northern. Have fun traveling east, maybe you'll find some decent gas prices, as in below six bucks a gallon. These high gas prices are not RV-friendly!
