A statue of Lewis and Clark is located at Turnaround Point on the promenade. The Expedition set up a salt works along the beach in 1805 to make salt needed to preserve meat for the return trip to Washington D.C. This is also the location for easy beach access with volley ball courts, swing sets, and a lifeguard station.
A reconstructed salt works is located six or seven block south of the statue and 1/2 block east of the promenade.
The concrete promenade is wide and level. Many trails lead to the ocean but they are not accessible due to soft, loose sand.
RVs may be parked at either end of the promenade. The south end has street parking, the north end has a parking lot with spaces that can be pulled through. Promenade 45.98037, -123.9335
I think we skirted Seaside when we were last up in those parts. But, I tell you what, your photos are just what I need to see this evening -- cool, gray sky and ocean mean cool temps! Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteWe've started our annual trek east. We're in Toppenish,WA and hot! A couple of days in central and eastern Washington and then we'll be in the cool mountains. :-) Hope you're not too hot and are enjoying the summer.
