Aptly named! The many cottonwoods provide shade for most of the sites in this little BLM campground. Four or five of the sites front on the river with nice views and easy access to the water. By arriving late in the afternoon, we just missed getting one of them and had to be satisfied with a long, shady pull-through site.
Amenities include tables, fire rings, vault toilets, a dumpster, and a dump station – extra fee with discount for campers. The campground sits below the highway so there’s some traffic noise.
The site where we camped is accessible with a section of bench removed at the table, a fire ring with high sides, a low grill, and a raised tent platform. I think the other sites are usable even if they aren’t specially designed to be accessible. Campground 44.66904, -114.07746
There are way too many campgrounds named Cottonwood, even if they all feature cottonwoods. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, not very imaginative! :-D
DeleteI'm very glad that there are so many cottonwood trees though.
A really nice campground on the Salmon River -- $10/night. Is it half price for old folks like me and Jimmy?
ReplyDeleteYes, just $5.00 for us old folk. Can't beat that deal!
DeleteDouble thumbs up!
