Roses grow so wonderfully in this climate! The garden has almost 3,500 plants of nearly 3,000 varieties of roses that are beautifully maintained by a dedicated crew of volunteers. The roses are planted in semi circle rows with connecting paths so that you can walk through just part of the plantings or go on every row to see all of the different roses.
The Rose Garden is located near the Guadalupe River Park Trail which has three or four parallel trails through the River Park that twist around and interconnect. The main trail is about 12 miles long and goes to downtown San Jose. We rolled/walked along a short section of the interconnecting trails in the park.
The garden paths are hard packed dirt and gravel. The River Trail is paved but has some hilly sections.
Short RVs will fit in the small lot on Seymour Street, backed up over the grass. Larger RVs can be parked on Walnut Street. The sidewalks and curb cuts are in good condition. Garden Trail 37.34264, -121.90775
San Jose isn't THAT far from Nevada City, yet we've never been there! (Do you know the way to San Jose, remember that one?) Based on your post, it looks like a good place to visit. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of stuff to see but most of it is small. I guess San Jose still has some small town atmosphere even though it's not small any more! There are many other interesting things within driving distance so you can be as busy as you'd like.
