Sycamore Grove Campground & Red Bluff Recreation Area
Even though this little plot of land is miles away from the main section of Mendocino National Forest it’s operated by the forest service which means anyone with a Senior or Access pass camps for half price. The campground is compact with many shade trees but no foliage between the sites so there’s little privacy. Some of the sites have water and electric hookups but there isn’t a dump station. Most of the sites are considered accessible because they have paved parking pads and pavement around the accessible tables. The sites closest to the restrooms are marked as accessible. All of the parking pads are narrow so lifts will deploy onto the grass.
About four miles of trails wind through a pretty meadow dotted with large oak trees. One short section of the nature trail is hard packed gravel. The rest of the trails are smooth level asphalt.
A small nature center with an outside garden has exhibits about the native plants and animals. The nature center is accessible. The garden has some steep sections and soft sand in places. Most wheelchair users will need to have help. Entry to the park, nature center and trails is free.
The sites in the campground are large enough for most RVs. The parking lot for the nature center and access to the trails is large enough for any RV. Campground Nature Center
