Turquoise Lake Recreation Area - NF
About seven small campgrounds are located in the lodge pole pine forest around the lake. We stayed in one of the larger ones, Molly Brown, which is very close to the water. These are popular campgrounds so reservations may be necessary. If you leave your campsite during your stay make sure that it’s obviously occupied with a tent, camper, camping equipment or a visible sign. Our was mistakenly given to another camper even though we had a paid receipt on the campsite post. We were told that this was the campground policy – if the site is not obviously occupied it is considered abandoned and opened for camping. Also even though some websites list these campgrounds as having flush toilets, all the toilets are vault. The dump station is closed but there is one in Leadville along US 24 – $5.00 for dump and water.
None of the sites have accessible signs on the posts but Reserve America does have the accessible sites in their system. From the photographs they look like the ones that are more level and have an easy path from the parking pad to the table. All of the tables have long overhangs. The vault toilets are accessible.
Many of the sites are long and wide enough for any RV. Campgrounds
