Festivals Map
View Festivals in a larger map
Over our twenty years of fulltiming we’ve attended very few festivals. Most of the ones that we did attended were by happenstance - we were passing through at the right time. We’ve enjoyed every one and would like to attend more so…another map!
The placemark colors designate the time of year for each festival so it’s easy to see what’s happening when we are in a certain area. Google maps will accept 200 placemarks per page therefore I haven’t included some things like music festivals. There are just too many of them. While I was researching festivals I found a couple of very good sites so if you want to find more festivals check these links - Top Events USA and Find the Best - US Festivals
I have room on the map for more festivals. If you have a favorite or know of a good one that I missed please leave a comment below. :- ) I’m including a map link in the “More Maps” section.
Don't let the name throw you, but in Arkansas, just west of Little Rock, they have what they call, "Toad Suck daze" (http://toadsuck.org/) which is a real big thing in Arkansas. Typically held in early May.
ReplyDeleteLove the name! Thanks for the suggestion. It's going on the map.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation on your pending house sale! Hope it all goes through okay. Have fun on your next adventure!
I ran across this...http://chicktrip.com/testicle.html
ReplyDeleteThought maybe after Tony's adventures in health care, it might strike a chord.

Ha,ha..I already had one but I added another.
ReplyDelete...so what's the story on your icon photo?
ahh yes....well, two summers ago, had vistors and when they left, left behind their two camping chairs. We talked about getting them back to them, etc etc. Then, Sharon and I were out at a fab lake and we...ok
ReplyDeleteok ok..me, thought it'd be screamingly funny if I had a pic taken..me in the chair, sans clothing..then send that and an 'are you sure you want your chairs' msg.
That was followed by a Thanksgiving shot..me in the chair, with a turkey carefully placed....and then the airport shot, as you see.
I can send them all to you, if you want, just say the word.
Gary
Ummm...I think I've seen enough.
DeleteThat is funny though!
Ok, here is another one which is a favorite in my "new home" here near Tampa Florida. (I lived in Arkansas for 22 years, which is how I knew about Toad Suck Daze, although I never did make it over to it...which is a shame).
ReplyDeleteIn Tampa they have the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, an annual celebration of the purported Spanish Pirate Jose Gaspar, the last of the Buccaneers, who may have, but probably never did not exist. However, the foundation of today's festival dates back to 1904 when the first Gasparilla Parade was held. (http://gasparillapiratefest.com)
Also, in Little Rock Arkansas, they have a very large, 3 day event is the Largest Music Festival in Arkansas, and YES, I have been to this a couple of times. It is held on both sides of the Arkansas River, normally has two or three stages with local to national entertainers. Always held on Memorial Day Weekend, Fri-Sun. (http://www.riverfestarkansas.com)
And regardless of house going through or not, we are on the road again in 18 days, this time for around 18 months we hope. But the sale is looking real good....thanks for asking.
Oops, forgot to give the name of the Little Rock Festival, it is called "Riverfest".
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a great idea to do this map, love the different colors for the different times of year they are held in, and it is safely tucked away in my "maps" folder in my browsers bookmarks. Thanks for doing it....
Thanks for the additional suggestions Dave. I added the pirate fest but since music festivals really need their own map I decided to skip them on this map. I think that the "find the best" site lists over 300 music fests! Thanks again!
DeleteExcellent job on the map. I will be using this as a reference. Thank you very much
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! If you find any good festivals as you travel around please let me know.
