Fort Wayne History Center
Fort Wayne was established to protect settlers from the Miami Indian tribe who, understandably, didn’t want to give up such an ideal location. Early history of the city and the story of its growth into a major manufacturing center are told in this small museum.
The museum is located in the old City Hall building. The first floor houses most of the exhibits. The second floor, which was the court room, has been restored to its original grandeur but is fairly empty. The basement contains jail cells and a few exhibits. Everything except the basement is accessible.
A free parking lot is located on the east side of the museum. It’s large enough for RVs. Two hour metered parking is located along the surrounding streets. Museum
