Truth or Consequences Boondocking

IMG_5485

The flood plain of the Rio Grande from Williamsburg, New Mexico to Caballo Reservoir is Bureau of Reclamation land which has the same rules as BLM land. Dirt roads providing access to camping and fishing spots run along both sides of the river (just a stream at this point). The easiest access is off of Route 187, south of Williamsburg. Turn east onto one of the dirt roads and follow it to the river.  We chose to use Old Ladder Ranch Road (route 8074), to avoid driving through a wash on the road north of Old Ladder. It be accessed by any RV but use caution at the narrow cattle guard.

The best spot, under a large tree with water view, was already occupied but our spot was pretty nice too. Unfortunately people use the area to dump trash so a bit of  cleanup may be necessary. Boondocking   33.10068, -107.28519
