We love the scenery and peacefulness usually found along riverside trails. Unfortunately the trails in South Bend are pretty poor. Gaps in the system leave disconnected segments, some sections have deteriorated to an unusable point, other sections are just wide sidewalks along busy roads, and there are few direction signs and no maps.
The best section that we found can be accessed from Howard Park. The parking lot is big enough for any RV. Trails 41.674, -86.24197
Well, I bet that was a disappointment. South Bend needs to do better.
