There isn’t much left at Arkansas Post today but it was a busy place for almost 200 years. In 1686 a French post was established along the banks of the Arkansas River to trade with the Quapaw who lived nearby. Over the years the site came under the control of the Spanish, the US government and the Confederate government. It even served as the territorial capital from1819 until 1821.
The site includes a small museum and two miles of trails.
The museum is accessible. About a half mile of the trail is paved and accessible. It makes a loop around a small pond and through the townsite with interpretive signs along the way.
The parking lot has long RV/bus spaces.
You two go to so many places! This looks like a very nice spot to visit.
