Longs Peak Scottish•Irish Highland Festival

277  The festival runs for three days with jousting contests, strong man competitions, sheep dog demonstrations, bagpipe contests, Irish and Scottish dancing, and lots of music. More than 75 clans have information booths.  Kilts and tradition clothing are for sale along with crafts and tee shirts. And of course beer and haggis!

We could not find a good schedule anywhere so we just wandered around. Many things were happening simultaneously but we managed to see at least part of all the different types of entertainment.  Attending on Friday meant that the crowds were thin.

The festival grounds are fairly large and some of the venues are a bit of a uphill trek from the main grounds. Surfaces include thick grass, gravel, broken asphalt and sand so wheelchair users will probably need to have some help.

Parking is located across the street. A paved trail with an underpass at the road leads to the festival grounds but the parking area is grass and loose gravel. If you buy tickets ahead of time you save $5.00 and also avoid a detour off of the paved path through a sandy lot to the ticket booth.  Festival
