Over the last two months while traveling around in Colorado, we’ve spent many nights boondocking in beautiful spots, including the one above which we shared with a couple of friendly Rubbertramps. (thanks guys!)
I’ve decided to put all of the free places where we’ve stayed in the last few years on a Google map. Along with dispersed camping sites, which we prefer, I’m including free campgrounds and parking lots that are good for an overnight stay or longer. The parking lots are mostly casino lots but there are also a few overlooks and small rest areas.
The map has photographs so everyone will have a general idea of the appearance of the camping spot plus co-ordinates for anyone with a GPS. I learned a trick from Freecampsites.net. If you right click on any marker (zoom in very close for accuracy) on a Google map, then click on “What’s Here” on the popup box, the co-ordinates will show in the search box. You can easily enter any interesting spot or campsite into your GPS.
