Leadville Fourth of July

081  We missed both the morning parade and the evening fireworks but we did manage to make it to the free barbecue and small private plane display at the regional airport. Hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato chips and cold drinks are served. Visitors are free to roam among the planes and talk with the pilots. Afterwards most of the pilots board their planes and take off which is fun to watch.

The barbecue is from 11:00-1:00. Arrive fairly promptly because the food doesn’t last long and the pilots leave early.

The parking area is large enough for RVs but the later arrivals will have to park pretty far way and the lot is very rough especially for wheelchair users.  Events

  1. Yeah, we do too! :-) And this was really free. We expected a donation can but there wasn't even one of those.
