Alaska Highway House

019
This little museum has  exhibits detailing the many problems the US Army encountered during the construction of the Alaska Highway. If you have time watch the movie which includes interviews with some of the soldiers who worked on the road along with old films and still photographs of the construction.

   The museum is all accessible.

Parking is available at the visitor center a few blocks away. The sidewalks and curb cuts are in pretty good condition. Museum

  1. Great fine, an excellent site! Finally ran across it again, and now have lot's of reading to do. Have now subscribed. Hope to get into Alaska next year, made to to Western Canada and Prince Rupert last August/Sept. Could see Alaska, but road was closed going north, due to a big fire.
We are late leaving Florida...too many chores, but will be off by end of the month in MemoryRoads. See you out there one of these days! Ron and Dorothy Sheridan

  2. Thanks Ron! I've been reading your site too - you've had a busy summer!

Those roads up to Alaska are a problem. The Alaskan Highway was closed for awhile this spring because of mudslides and now the Cassiar is closed for the same reason. I'm glad that we went up the Cassiar in the spring - beautiful drive-we won't have wanted to miss it.
